The summer after I finished graduate school, I gave myself a few months to rest, recuperate and decide what to do next. As summer wore on, I began to feel more and more fatigued, but figured it was just burnout from years of classes, internships, and work. Then in September, one week after sending out resumes for positions in the mental health field, I happened to touch my neck and feel a lump.
That single touch changed the course of my life. It led to four years of on and off treatment for Hodgkins Lymphoma, a recurrence of this disease, and its many lasting side effects - physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual. But also during this time, I married my high school sweetheart and I developed deeper connections with family and friends. I witnessed and experienced the vast range of joys and struggles we face in our lives.
We each have our own story filled with fears, anxieties and anger, along with accomplishments and joys. What I offer cannot take away these challenges and experiences. What I hope to provide is a new way of being with them. Together we will experiment with new ways of becoming aware of and responding to the daily stressors you face. I believe in the transformative powers of living more mindfully and am passionate about guiding others as they learn about their habits, choices, behaviors and the ways they can experience their lives more fully.
I hope you will contact me so we can discuss the challenges you are facing and determine if Cascade Counseling & Wellness can support you on your journey towards wellness.
